Teach your kids about good nutrition by setting a few house rules.

Sweets are for special occasions. Don't keep cookies around all the time, or they'll become a mainstay of your family's diet. Instead, reserve sweet dessetrs for celebration like bithdays and holidays.

Take time out to play every day. Go for an after_dinner family walk, or play a game of touch football in the backyard. Plan askiing weekend or attend a tennis camp with your kids. The more active you are, the more active they'll be.

Talk first, eat later. Food won't help heal a 10_year_old's wounded ego or cure teenage angst, but talking may. Encourage your kids to express themselves in ways that don't revolve around food. Journal keeping, playing an instrument and painting can also help a child work through his or her calorie_free.
